USD to get $20,000 break on permit fees

The Scott County school district (USD 466) will be getting a substantial break in building permit fees following action by the Scott City Council on Monday.

The council agreed to assess the district building permits at 25 percent of their usual cost for all construction that is part of the $25 million bond issue.

Based on projects that he is aware of, building inspector Paul Kasselmann estimated the district would need to apply for permits costing nearly $28,000. At a 75 percent reduction, the fees will amount to approximately $7,000.
