Memories of ‘16 could make harvest delay worth the wait

When the 2016 wheat crop was put in the bin, most farmers in Scott County and much of the surrounding area, figured it was a harvest they’d never see again in their lifetime.

Time travels fast.

While hoping for a little cooperation from Mother Nature, area producers are anxiously anticipating a crop that could rival what they harvested three years ago.

Jason Baker, manager of the Scott Co-op, says their elevator sites in Scott and Wichita counties are preparing to take in 80-90 percent of the wheat they did during that memorable 2016 harvest.
