Washing Well Wenches offer audience ‘permission to be silly’

After the young lords and ladies had long since departed for their castles and the stockade blocks had been put into storage, the first Renaissance Faire in Scott City was rated “a good start,” by organizers.

“We learned things we can do better next year,” says Chamber of Commerce Director Lindsay Singley.

And there will be a next year.

“You have to start somewhere and we feel we have something we can build on,” says Singley.

Vendors and participants were very understanding and also offered encouragement.

“Everyone was very supportive of bringing it back and building on this experience,” she says. “We’re already thinking about more entertainment and what we can do to add to the atmosphere of a Renaissance festival.”
