The long-held belief that cutting irrigation use on cropland will lead to a corresponding loss of production and lower land values has often been seen as a barrier to voluntary conservation efforts.
With fundraising just $15,000 shy of the $1.42 million goal, the USD 466 (Scott County) board of education agreed to move ahead with plans to put artificial turf on the football field.
Individuals who enjoy early history and don’t mind getting their hands dirty are encouraged to sign-up for an archeological dig at Lake Scott State Park which will take place from June 2-18.
Sometimes the wheels of government do move fairly quickly. Less than two weeks after a recommendation that the Scott City Council change its meeting time, the governing body passed an ordinance making it official.
