The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC), the state’s housing finance agency, has provided $21.6 million in emergency rental and utility assistance to more than 3,000 Kansas households experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID pandemic.
Each year, those who visit the Beefiesta tasting booths can vote for their favorite at a penny per vote. This year’s winner was Norder who, along with the Beefiesta Committee decided that the proceeds would go to the Angel Tree program sponsored by Compass Behavioral Health during the holiday season. The donation of $1,970.19 was the largest ever through the tasting booth fundraiser. In a letter to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Republican John Boozman (R-Ark.) said the USDA violated provisions of the 2018 Farm Bill when the county payment rates were changed.
Severe drought in the West is forcing many farmers and ranchers to make the toughest of choices - selling their livestock and destroying crops - according to a Farm Bureau survey of producers in 13 Western states.
The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) will survey producers in 32 states, including Kansas, for its small grains County Agricultural Production Survey (CAPS).
