Barbara Jane Huber

Barbara Jane Huber, 72, died Feb. 6, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

She was born July 16, 1947, in Scott City, the daughter of Orville Lloyd and Elnor Hope (Hinderliter) Krehbiel.

A 1965 graduate of Dighton High School, she attended Fort Hays State University where she earned bachelor’s degrees in nursing and music performance. She was a registered nurse at Hadley Hospital and Hays Orthopedic Clinic.

On June 12, 1971, she married John Elwyn Huber in Dighton. They celebrated 43 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2015.

Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Alpha Iota and P.E.O.

Survivors include a son, Derek Huber, Decatur, Tenn; a daughter, Julinne Kemp and husband, Brian, Lawrence; five brothers, Larry Krehbiel and wife, Vicki, Dighton, Tony Krehbiel and wife, Judi, Tulsa, Okla., James Krehbiel and wife, Genelle, Scott City, Mark Krehbiel and wife, Kit, Quinter, and Rick Krehbiel and wife, Amy, Greeley, Colo.; two sisters, Judy Musselwhite and husband, Ron, Dighton, and Pam Schnuelle, Beatrice, Nebr.; six grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service was Feb. 15 at the First United Methodist Church, Hays, with Rev. Mike Rose officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the John E. Huber Memorial Scholarship at Fort Hays State University or to the American Cancer Society.
