Betty Jean Shelton Austin

Betty Jean Shelton Austin, 91, died Sept. 25, 2020, at her home in Scott City.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1929, in Glade, the daughter of John Allen and Vernie (McLaughlin) Baker.

A resident of Scott City since 1979, moving from Guymon, Okla., she was a retired secretary from HRC Feed Yards and was the owner and operator of Kringle’s Kreations where she sent her Santa’s all over the world.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City.

On Nov. 8, 1946, she married Charles Shelton in Ness City. He died in March of 1979 in Guymon. On Jan. 29, 1983, she married Robert Austin in Scott City. He died in November of 2002 in Scott City.

Survivors include six children, Sherry Brooks and husband, Robert, Broomfield, Colo., Nikki Geier and husband, Alan, Garden City, Allen Shelton and wife, Patrice, Garden City, Steve Shelton and wife, Lou, Scott City, Craig Shelton and wife, Patty, Fayetteville, Ark., and Elizabeth Lewis and husband, Gil, Scott City; one step-son, Mike Austin and wife, Lynn, Graham, Wash.; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cecil Baker; and one sister, Viola Benedict.

A memorial service was held October 2 at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Inurnment was in the Scott County Cemetery.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Scott County Health Department.
