Betty L. Eisenhour

Betty L. Eisenhour, 84, died Jan. 31, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in rural Sheridan County, Ks.

Betty was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Scott City, the daughter of Leo C. and Anna B. (Frank) Beeson.

She was a lifelong resident of Scott City, graduating from Scott Community High School in 1953 and from Fort Hays State University in 1996.

She was very proud of achieving her college education, taking over 30 years in summer and correspondence classes.

In 1973, she opened B.L. Eisenhour Accounting in Scott City and in the late 1990s added an office in Leoti. She retired in 2017.

She was also the bookkeeper at Ike’s Body Shop for her husband, Vearl, and later, her son, Brett.

On Dec. 28, 1953, she married Vearl Dean Eisenhour at Raton, N.M. They were married for 37 years before he died on April 3, 1991, in Scott City.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, and spent many years as a Sunday school teacher. She had been a board member for Park Lane Nursing Home; was a member of the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, serving as a board member and was a past president of the Western Chapter; and was an active member for many years in the local chapter of Business and Professional Women.

She was an aerobics instructor for many years and an avid walker. While in her 70s, she competed several times in the “Bolder Boulder” 5k marathon in Boulder, Colo.

For many years, Betty and Vearl opened their home as a safe haven to many foster children in Western Kansas.

Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Price and husband, Stephen, Ottawa; daughter-inlaw, Katie Eisenhour, Scott City; her companion, Mike Scott, Hoxie; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Eisenhour, Scott City; four grandchildren and spouses, Eric and Danita Price, Ottawa, Courtney and Brian Williams, Baldwin City, Blake and Grace Eisenhour, Moscow, and Brice and Sarah Eisenhour, Scott City; a niece, Jill Tucker and husband, Lance, Scott City; a nephew, Cash Beeson, Scott City; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Brett D. Eisenhour; and three siblings, C. Eugene Beeson, John C. Beeson and Mary Ann Beeson.

Funeral service will be held Mon., Feb. 11, 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, with Pastor John Lewis officiating.

There will be no calling times.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Camp Lakeside, First United Methodist Church or the scholarship fund for the Public Accountants of Kansas Association, in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
