Charles Henry Turner

Charles Henry Turner, 76, Arkansas City, died July 26, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

H e was born May 16, 1943, in Noel, Mo., to Chester and Ruth (Burrours) Turner.

He was raised and educated in Bluff City by his mother and step-father, Vernon Winston, graduating from Bluff City High School in 1961. He later attended Arkansas City Junior College (Cowley College).

Charles married Kaye Simons on Jan. 5, 1964, in Severy. The couple moved to Arkansas City.

Charles worked as a welder, pipeline inspector and maintenance foreman for APCO/Total refinery of Arkansas City and Denver, Colo. He then worked independently, did some welding and was a fiber optic line inspector for several years traveling all over the United States.

He was a member of the Hackney Baptist Church.

He enjoyed his work, but also loved working in the family vegetable garden and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye, of the home; three sons William Turner and wife, Amber, Wichita, James Turner and wife, Jennifer, Scott City, and Jeremy Turner and wife, Jeri, Arkansas City; a brother, Dennis Turner of Springfield, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Darci Diane; and a brother, Marvin North.

Funeral service is Fri., Aug. 2, 10:30 a.m., at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel, Arkansas City, with Pastor Stephen Butler officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
