Doris Kay Rickard
Doris Kay Rickard, 78, died Jan. 29, 2020, in Lindsborg.
Doris was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Pratt, the daughter of Carl and Phebe O’Hair.
Doris married Gary Rickard on July 8, 1959. He died on Feb. 14, 1972.
Doris worked as a paraprofessional in USD 305 for 22 years, was an Alateen sponsor for 25 years, served on the Salina Youth Girls Home board of directors for 12 years, led the “Just Say No” Club at Hawthorne Elementary and for 22 years was an integral part of USD 305 Red Ribbon Week.
She was named the 2015, Kansas United Methodist “Woman of the Year.”
Survivors include her son, Alan Rickard, and wife, Mona; daughters, Lori Billups and husband, Clyde, and Sue Lopez and husband, Javier; step-children, Tammy Williams, Mike Williams and Kelly Ruiz; sister, Beverly Ann Strickert; three brothers, Tom Rickard and wife, Janet, Walter Burt and wife, Sylvia, and Gene Hamilton and wife, Janet; sisters-in-law Jeanette O’Hair and Kate Rickard; four granchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Ida Rickard; brother and wife, Don and Mildred O’Hair; a brother, Carl O’Hair; brothers-in-law, DeWayne Rickard, Richard Burt and Roger Strickert; sister-in-law, Janette Yoeman; a niece, Donna Kay Strickert; and a nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sat., Feb. 8, 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush Street, Salina. Family and friends are invited to lunch at noon.
Graveside service will be in Scott City on July 8.
