Edwin J. Wasinger

Edwin J. Wasinger, 84, died Aug. 21, 2017, at the Kearny County Hospital, Lakin. He was born April 13, 1933, in Scott County, the son of Wendelin J. and Beata (Stremel) Wasinger. A lifetime resident of Scott County, he was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a United States Army veteran, a member of Kiwanis International, Knights of Columbus, a Wheatland Electric board member for 25 years and a Scott Cooperative board member. On Feb. 7, 1959, he married Rosemary E. Dechant in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Greg Wasinger, and wife, Shairlyn, and Mike Wasinger and wife, Shannon, both of Scott City; one daughter, Sharon Crist, and husband, Richard, Scott City; one sister, Bernadette Schampel, Cañon City, Colo.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Vigil service will be held Friday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City. Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Scott County Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington Street, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
