Edythe Mae Spiker
Edythe Mae Spiker, 79, died June 7, 2018, at the Wichita County Health Center, Leoti. She was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Cheyenne County, the daughter of James and Rose Mae (Seitz) Pettit. A resident of Leoti since 1963, moving from Goodland, she held Badge D-1 as dispatcher for the Wichita County Sheriff’s office. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Rebakah Lodge and Red Hat Society, Leoti. She married Robert Spiker in 1955 in Goodland. He died in 1992. Survivors include: three sons, Steve Spiker, Leoti, Tim Spiker and wife, Bonnie, Lynnwood, Wash., and Robert Spiker and wife, Valerie, Bellingham, Mass.; three siblings, Peggy Ketzner, Shawnee, Patricia Hill, Hays, and Jim Pettit, Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Brian Spiker and wife, Mary; one brother, Eldon Pettit; one sister- in- law, Caroline Pettit; and a brother-in-law, Jim Ketzner. Funeral service was held June 13 at the First Baptist Church, Leoti, with Pastor Gary Salmans officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery near Bird City.
