Emily E. Lightner

Emily E. Lightner, 37, died Sept. 6, 2017, in McPherson County. She was born Oct. 29, 1979, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John and Dianne Geissal. A resident of Scott City since 2013, moving from Wichita, she was a devoted follower of Christ, loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. On July 31, 2004, she married Matthew Lightner in Monticello, Ill. He survives. Other survivors include: three sons, John “Jack” Lightner, Elijah Lightner and Ezekiel Lightner; three daughters, Lillian Lightner, Abigail Lightner and Kathryn Lightner, all of Scott City; parents, Dianne Geissal, Verona, Wisc., and John Geissal and Andy Coyle, Urbana, Ill.; a brother, Ben Geissal, and wife, Lindsay, Madison, Wisc.; and father and mother-in-law, John Lightner and wife Cindy, Garden City. Funeral service was held Sept. 11 at the First Baptist Church, Scott City. Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church for Global Missions in care of Price and Sons, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Ks. 67871.
