Harriet B. Wittig
Harriet B. Wittig, 88, died Sept. 30, 2019, at her home in Leoti.
Harriet was born June 20, 1931, in Jerome, Ks., the daughter of William John and Edith Mae (Garner) McLean.
A resident of Leoti since 1976, moving from Oklahoma, she was a homemaker and custodian for Wichita County school district.
Harriet was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Scott City.
In the 1950s she married Freddie Hammons. On May 30, 1978, she married Virgil Wittig at Larned. He died on Sept. 7, 2017, in Tribune.
Survivors include seven children, Marvin Hammons, Alderson, Okla., Gary Hammons, Garden City, Margaret Hammons, Fort Gibson, Okla., Sharon Paxman, Tribune, Donnie Hammons, Blytheville, Ark., Dell Hammons of Pennsylvania, and Keith Hammons, Carnegie, Okla.; two step-children, Tammy Banta, Medicine Lodge, and Connie Stiles, Altoona; a sister, Eunice Maurer, Chino, Calif.; 33 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was held on Oct. 3 at the Leoti Cemetery with Pastor Warren Prochnow officiating.
Burial was in Leoti Cemetery.
