Harriet M. Lewis
Harriet M. Lewis, 86, died June 10, 2018, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City. She was born Sept. 29, 1931 , in Beeler, the daughter of Karl and Maude (Thomas) Knauf. On June 9, 1950, she married Lyle E. Lewis in Kansas City. He died Nov. 1, 2011. She graduated from Beeler High School. She was an interior painter, housekeeper, worked at Frigid Creme, Dart-In and was best known as the Dighton Bowl cook. She was a member of First Christian Church of Dighton, Christian Women’s Fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary and PTA. Survivors include: two sons, Larry Lewis, Kansas City, Mo., and Bentz Lewis, Dighton; two daughters, Denise Kobler, Topeka, and Reba Bayuk, WaKeeney; one brother, Jerry Knauf, Rozel; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Darin Lee Lewis; three sisters, Edna Lomax, Essie Ann Tyler and Esther Sculley; and two brothers, Johnny Knauf and Derry Knauf. Funeral service will be Sat., June 16, 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Church, Dighton, with Rev. Aerii Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
