Herman Frederick Griem
Herman Frederick Griem, 88, died Aug. 9, 2018, at the Wichita County Health Center, Leoti. He was born March 2, 1930, in Enid, Okla., the son of Frederick Herman and Bertha (Lee) Griem. He graduated from high school at Maude, Okla., in 1948. He then moved to Wichita County to work on the family farm. He worked for Western Hardware in Leoti for 25 years until retirement. In 1951, he enlisted in the military and trained as an aircraft mechanic. He served in the Korean Conflict in the United States Army until 1954, earning the rank of Corporal. On Feb. 11, 1952, he married Georgia Rowton in San Marcos, Tex. She survives. Other survivors include: nine children, Rick Griem and wife Jean, Scott City, Barbara King, Wilburton, Okla., Edward Griem and wife Susan, Benton, Debra Eikelberger and husband Jerry, Scott City, Judy Lechenberg, Greenleaf, Kenny Griem and wife Krisi, Lawrence, Rennie Griem and wife Donna, Salina, Elizabeth Gould and husband John, Leoti, and Lee Griem, Basehor; one sister, Delena McCullough, Lamar, Colo.; 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three greatgreat-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, and six step great-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Nancy Sue Griem; two grandsons, Terri Burch and Alvin Burch. Graveside service was held Aug. 15, at Leoti Cemetery with Terry Laws presiding.
