J. Paul Hillery
J. Paul Hillery, 92, died Jan. 20, 2020, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
He was born on July 25, 1927, in Russell Springs, the son of William H. and Ruby F. (Martindale) Hillery.
Paul was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Scott City.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Scott City, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, earning the rank of Tech 4th Grade.
On March 26, 1950, he married Pauline Rishel in Wichita County. She died April 2, 1998, in Scott City. On Sept. 2, 2000, he married Addie Mae Strickler Collins in Abernathy, Tex. She died on May 1, 2015, in Scott City.
Survivors include his two sons, Gregory Hillery and Larry Hillery, both of Scott City; one daughter, Marcia Matthies, and husband, Craig, Scott City; one brother, Lee Hillery, Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren, Toby Matthies and wife, Jacki, Vacaville, Calif., Blakely Hillery and his wife, Crystal, Fort Worth, Tex., Brittany Hillery, Hays, and Bretton Hillery, Denver, Colo., and three greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives; one grandson, Lucas Matthies; two brothers, Mark and Howard; and two sisters, Wilma Norsworthy and Vivian Chambers.
Visitation will be on Fri., Jan. 24, from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
Funeral service will be Sat., Jan. 25, 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Nazarene, Scott City, with Rev. Arlen Ankle presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
