Jacob Lee Appel
Jacob Lee Appel, 32, died on July 5, 2017, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born on Nov. 14, 1984, in Scott City, the son of Robert Baxter and Pamela Marie (Gimler) Appel. A 2003 graduate of Scott Community High School, Appel earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Friends University, Wichita, in 2008. He had lived in McPherson until August of 2016 when he moved back to Scott City. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City. Survivors include his mother, of Scott City; a sister, Miranda Lara and husband, John, Scott City; a brother, Joel Appel, Scott City; a niece, Maci Lara, Scott City; grandparents, Leon and Hildie Gimler, Parsons; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father; an uncle, Tony Akers; and grandparents, Robert Kenneth and Thelma Appel. Funeral service will be Sat., July 15, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City, with Fr. Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
