James Arnold Schindler
James Arnold Schindler, 81, died Oct. 15, 2019, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1937, at Goodland, the son of John and Frances (Nestor) Schindler.
He graduated from Sherman Community High School in 1955. He began working at Newton Machine Shop and Auto Parts and then went to work at Finley Pontiac until 1968.
He married Beulah Riddle in December of 1957. They moved to Liberal where he taught in the auto mechanics department at Liberal Vo-Tech for 18 years. They divorced in 1983.
In January of 1984 he married Marilyn Boehme Michael in Oahu, Ha.
They had lived in Kingman and Brewster where they owned and operated A&M Auto Sales, Flatlander Snack Foods and the Brewster Grocery Store before retiring in Scott City in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Scott City; a son, Rick, of Texas; a daughter, Rhonda Hertensen and husband, Clete, Shawnee, Okla.; two step-daughters, Anita Michael, Goodland, and Lori Frecks and husband, George, Stratton, Colo.; a sister, Mary Puttroff, Goodland; a sister-inlaw, Evelyn Schindler, Goodland; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Fri., Oct. 25, 2:00 p.m. (CST) at the Goodland Cemetery with Mike Baughn presiding.
There will be no calling times.
