James D. Simons
James D. Simons, 81, died on March 10, 2020, at the Wichita County Health Center, Leoti.
He was born May 2, 1938, in Garden City, the son of Louis B. and Ida (Wewer) Simons.
A lifetime resident of Wichita County, he was a farmer and rancher.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served from 1957-59.
Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal; the Knights of Columbus; and had served on the board of the Wichita County Conservation District for nine years.
On Nov. 22, 1986, he married Lillian Boulware at Las Vegas, Nev. She died on March 1, 2011, in Scott City.
Survivors include five children, Curtis Simons, Emporia, Randy Simons, Allen, Tex., Debra Aldridge, McAlester, Okla., Wayne Simons, McAllister, Mont., and Shawn Simons, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three step-children, Kerri Chavez, of New Mexico, Lance Webster, Scott City, and Lesha Webster, Stafford; four siblings, Ron Simons, Stockton, Donald Simons, Hays, John Simons, Marienthal, and Geraldine Mazanec, Marienthal; eight grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Simons; and a stepson, J.W. Webster.
Friends may call on Fri., March 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Leoti.
Vigil service will be Friday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marienthal.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the church with Fr. Tim Hickey officiating.
Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Detail.
