Jerald Dean Sramek
Jerald Dean Sramek,75, died July 5, 2017. The oldest of 11 children, he was born Oct. 11, 1941, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, to Philip and Josephine (Kessler) Sramek, Leoti. The family moved to Scott County in 1944, then to Scott City where he attended school through eighth grade. The family moved to Mesa, Ariz., for one year and then Garden City where Jerald attended Garden City High School his sophomore year. The family returned to Scott City where Jerald graduated from Scott Community High School in 1959. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army infantry and served through July 1962, including 13 months in Korea (1960-61) and the remainder of his service at Fort Riley. Jerald moved to Phoenix in 1973 and worked for the City of Phoenix until he retired in 2005. He married Sharrie Turner on July 3, 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in north Phoenix, the Plumbing and Pipefitters Union for 45 years, the F-100s Truck Club, and three bowling leagues. He bowled a 300 game in February 1989. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Gina; stepdaughter, Valarie; stepson, Corey; brother, Terry, Chandler, Ariz.; sisters, Janice Adams, Phoenix, Philene Pickett and husband, Larry, Scott City, Cindy Kelly, Joleen Rupp and Patti Greenbank, all of Garden City, and Nancy Sramek, Lowell, Ariz.; and two grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry; step-son, Douglas; a brother, Jimmy; and two sisters, Charlene and Jacque. Funeral arrangements are pending.
