John Jay ReQua

John Jay ReQua, 91, died Feb. 4, 2018, at William Newton Hospital, Winfield. He was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Missouri, the son of Harry and Gladys (MacGregor) ReQua. He was raised by Riley and Alice MacGregor. He served in the U.S. Navy from June of 1944 until May of 1946 when he was honorably discharged. On June 30, 1946, he married Gerry Hartley. She survives. He worked as a farmer and at Boeing Aircraft. In 1964, he was manager of Camp Lakeside near Scott City. He moved to Wichita in 1982 where he was a social worker for College Hill United Methodist Church. He was a member of College Hill United Methodist Church and later Grace United Methodist Church, Winfield. Survivors include: three daughters, Kathy Brazle and husband, Frank, Chanute, Jessie Bradley and husband, Jim, Dexter, and Renee Smith and husband, Scott, Hutchinson; a twin brother, Riley ReQua, Hawkinsville, Ga.; sister, Nancy Greenwood, Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Comora Nash; brother, Bill MacGregor; and a granddaughter, Amber Fischbach. Funeral service was held on Feb. 8 at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment with Military Committal Honors was in the Medicine Lodge Cemetery.
