Kendall Mae Ottley
Kendall Mae Ottley, 75, rural WaKeeney, Ks., died March 22, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born July 19, 1943, in Garden City to Kenneth Durant and Ollie Mae (Slawson) Durant.
Kendall attended schools in Holcomb and Russell Springs before graduating from Monument Consolidated High School in 1961.
On April 20, 1963, she married William (Bill) A. Ottley at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley.
Kendall worked as a telephone operator in Oakley. They moved to Scott County where Bill began working for a farmer/rancher and they purchased their own farm in Scott County in 1974.
The family moved to WaKeeney where they owned a farming operation.
Kendall was a bus driver for USD 208 for many years. Kendall and Bill also owned/operated the Sprint Mart store for 14 years.
Kendall was involved in the Catholic Church and the altar society for many years. She worked part-time at the hospital auxiliary, the public library, and enjoyed working at the WaKeeney livestock sale barn.
Survivos include her husband, Bill; two children, Tamera Mae (Ottley) Riedel and husband, Glenn, WaKeeney, and William John Ottley and wife, Laura, Wichita; five grandchildren, Courtney Berning, WaKeeney; Cindy Hilgers, Ogallah, Catie Riedel, Hays, Clayton Riedel, WaKeeney, and Nicole Sherfick, WaKeeney; two sisters, Kathy Wessel, Scott City, and Janet Smith, Yukon, Okla.; two brothers, Bob Durant, Oakley, and Steven Durant, Omaha, Nebr.; and three great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held Sat., April 6, 10:30 a.m., at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Ks.
There will be no visitation as cremation was chosen.
