Kirby Lee VanDegrift
Kirby Lee VanDegrift, 64, died, Oct. 24, 2019, at his home in Ness City.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1955, in Ness City, the son of Barry and Loretta (Switzer) VanDegrift.
He was a rig operator for both Cheyenne Well Service and Hembree Well Service. He also worked several years as a custodian and later as head custodian for Ness City Public Schools.
Kirby enjoyed hunting and fishing, working on cars, working with wood, and cooking on the barbecue for his family and friends.
On Nov. 12, 1977, he married Sharon Castor in Ness City. Together they had two children, Lori and Tony. They were later divorced.
He married Nancy Holt on April 1, 2000, in Ness City. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Lori Weaver and husband, Jeremy, Ness City, and Brenda M. Rhodes and husband, Joe, Corona, Calif.; three sons, Anthony Vandegrift, Scott City, Jason E. Jensen and wife, Donna, Harvard, Nebr., and David Jensen, Idaho Falls, Ida.; three brothers, Mick Vandegrift and wife, Nancy, Hutchinson, Rick Vandegrift and wife, Carol, Ellinwood, and Kirk “Cork” Vandegrift, Hiakman, Ky.; 12 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren plus one on the way.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be Sat., Nov. 2, 10:30 a.m., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 207 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Ness City, Ks. 67560.
Memorials may be given to the Kirby VanDegrift Funeral Fund in care of the funeral home.
