Marion V. Garman

Marion V. Garman, 90, died Fri., July 31, 2020, at Trinity Nursing and Rehab in Merriam.

Marion was born March 19, 1930, in Turon, the son of Charles and Maudie (Ruckman) Garman.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Marion had worked maintenance for Rickel Elevators throughout Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. In 1969, he moved to the Virgin Islands and was an auto mechanic in St. Croix.

In 1970, he moved back to Kansas and worked at Sullivan Elevators in Ulysses, Cash and Carry Lumber Yard in Garden City and Far Better Feeds. He later moved to Scott City and worked for Burnett Cattle Company and Brookover Feeders.

He retired from Kirk Grain Company, Scott City.

He married Karen Kay Hickey on May 31, 1981, in Garden City. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2016.

He will be forever remembered by his three daughters, JoAnne Beckman and husband, Dan, Emporia, Cindy Burhoop and husband, Troy, Salina, and Karla Lickteig and husband, Paul, Derby; three sons, Craig Garman and wife, Leanne, Admire, David Hickey and wife, Sherry, Scott City, and Dan Hickey and wife, Mary, Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Annabelle Schwab, Cheyenne Wells, Colo.; 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Clayton and Randall Garman; two brothers, John and LeRoy Garman; and two step-brothers, Leon and Vernon Farmer.

Graveside service was held at Aug. 6 at All Saints Cemetery in Salina.
