Ray Lee Helmbold

Ray Lee Helmbold CJF, 71, died July 31, 2018, at his home in Greeley County. He was born March 10, 1947, in Anthony, the son of Merle and Roena (Roe) Helmbold. He worked as a farrier his entire life. He was a member of the American Farrier’s Assn. (AFA), VFW, Kansas Farrier Assn. and the NRA. He went through the ROTC program at Kansas State University. He attended post-graduate school in California in horse shoeing. He earned the highest rating from the AFA early in his career. On July 13, 1973, he married Donna Lea Symns in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Trula Harris, Salina. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Jim Linzy Fund at the American Farrier’s Assn. and the Kansas Farrier’s Association Disability Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, Ks. 67846.
