Rev. Robert Lee Courtney

Rev. Robert Lee Courtney, 90, of Kansas City, died Dec. 7, 2017. He was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Hoisington, the son of James and Jewell (Weatherford) Courtney. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Randolph. He graduated from Central Bible College and attended Harding University. For more than 50 years he was a pastor for Assembly of God congregations across the country. He pastored at the Assembly of God Church in Scott City from 1966-68 and 1970-73. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Una Farley; daughters Judy Comstock and husband, Carl, of Kansas, Rheta Landon and husband, Dwight, of Kansas, and Mellanie Renfro and husband, Randy, of Missouri; a son, Robert Courtney of Texas; step-children Vickey Haley and husband, Jim, of Oklahoma, Jim Duncan and wife, Janie, of Texas, and Kevin Keagle and wife, Katie, of Illinois; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Nelle; sister, Donna Johns; brothers, James and Glen Courtney; and granddaughter, Victoria Kelderman. Burial was at White Chapel Cemetery, Gladstone, Mo.
