Richard Leslie Gillett

Richard Leslie Gillett, 70, died Dec. 15, 2020.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1950, in Garden City to Edwin and Mary (Brower) Gillett.

Richard worked as a mechanic for Sharp Brothers Seed Company for 36 years and worked for Owen Herndon for 10 years.

On Oct. 14, 1972, he married Rebecca (Inguanza) Gillett. She survives. Richard and Rebecca lived in Healy for 30 years.

Richard had a passion for fishing and could be found catching trout and catfish at Lake Scott State Park. He also loved riding his motorcycle, winding down the scenic roads of Kansas, listening to Elvis.

Richard enjoyed traveling with his wife. They made many trips around the United States. The highlights included Yuma, Ariz., Albuquerque, N.M., and Keystone, S.D., to visit Mount Rushmore.

His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Leslie Cheri Gillett and partner, Mark, and Tracy Rene Gillett; a son, Ramon Ramie Inguanza and wife, Amanda; brother, James Gillett and wife, Shari; and five grandchildren, Blake Gillett, Chris Hemel, Skyler Hemel, Makayla Inguanza and Kadence Inguanza.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Janie Simpson; and his brothers Roger and Robert Gillett.
