Sharon Kay (Shumaker) Schwab

Sharon Kay (Shumaker) Schwab, 74, Scott City, died Thurs., Aug. 13, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

She was born Jan. 28, 1946, in Wray, Colo., to Marvin Clark and Margaret Irene (Black) Shumaker.

Sharon attended school in Jennings and Oberlin.

On March 24, 1962, she married Charlie Phillip Schwab. They later divorced.

Sharon had a daycare in Garden City for years and was a foster parent to many young kids. She was also a home health care worker.

Survivors include her children, Cary Lynn Schwab and wife, Tamera, Chanute, Pamela Irene Turner and husband, Ron, Scott City, and Timothy Ray Schwab and wife, Jacquie, Goddard; one brother, Dale Shumaker; six grandchildren, Mandy Smoot, Brandy Schwab, Krysta Baugh, Veronica Heili, Abigail Schwab and Nicholas Schwab, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, Don Gene Moore; a sister, Alberta Hinrichsen; a nephew, Kenneth Streit; and a niece, Rachel Ann Streit.

Cremation has taken place.

Graveside service will be at Oberlin at a later date.
