Thomas Lewis ‘Tom’ Purma
Thomas Lewis “Tom” Purma, 73, died Dec. 16, 2017, in Wilson., Ks. He was born July 8, 1944, to Charles J. and Betty (Moore) Purma in Ellsworth County, Ks. He was a graduate of Scott Community High School and the University of Kansas where he competed on the track team and was a Big 8 champion in the javelin. He spent most of his career working in the aerospace industry. His great interests were fishing and gardening. He and his wife, Carolyn Y. (Davisson) Purma were married for 31 years. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kristin Ann London and husband, Scott, Highland Ranch, Colo., and Kerri Starr Purma, Durango, Colo.; three granddaughters; three step-children; a brother, Dr. Charles Purma II and wife, Vickie, Scott City; two nephews, Charles J. Purma III and wife, Mackensie, Austin, Tex., and Frank Purma, Scott City; a niece, Anna Purma, Scott City; special cousins Bernadine (Purma) Kraus, Bob (Sandy) Kraus, and Gary (Joyce) Kraus, all of Wilson; three granddaughters, five stepgrandchildren; one great grandson; several cousins and many friends. The body was cremated and inurnment for the family will be held on Sat., Jan. 20, at 3:00 p.m. A celebration wake will follow for family and friends at the American Legion in Wilson from 7:00-10:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the donor’s choice or the Wilson Care and Rehabilitation Center in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 610 24th Street, Wilson, Ks. 67490.
