Velda L. Spencer
Velda L. Spencer, 86, died Oct. 18, 2018, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City. S h e was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Gove, the daughter of William and I d e l l a Margaret (Russell) Wright. A lifetime resident of Scott City, she worked at Park Lane Nursing Home for 17 years. She was a member of the Scott City Pink Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. She married Jack Swedenborg in Norman, Okla., in 1957. He died in 1968. She followed that with a marriage to Alan G. Spencer whom she divorced. Survivors include: one son, Broc Swedenborg, Lakin; three daughters, LuAnne Barnett and husband, Kirk, Udall, Kelley Benero and husband, Adam, Park City, and Cathy Savolt, Andover; nine brothers, Dan, Dewey, Wilbur, Marvin, Marion, Harold, Roy and Gary, all of Scott City, and Galen, Sublette; three sisters, Della Morgan, Healy, Sue West and husband, Pat, Scott City, and Carolyn Hundertmark and husband, Walter, Scott City; five grandchildren, two great-grandchidren and one great-great granchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Cleve, Harlan, Milton and Elvin. Funeral service was held Oct. 22 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding. Interment was held at the Scott County Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Velda Spencer Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington, Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
