Venus M. Gropp

Venus M. Gropp, 97, died March 5, 2019, at Park Lane Nursing Home, Scott City.

She was born Sept. 6, 1921, north of Coolidge, t h e daughter of George Washington and Edith Ellen (Webster) McClary Herren.

A resident of Scott City since 2011, moving from Syracuse, she was a school lunch worker at USD No. 494 in Syracuse for several years.

She was a member of the Syracuse Wesleyan Church.

On Feb. 5, 1939, she married Fred O. Gropp in Syracuse. He died Sept. 30, 1988.

Survivors include: one son, Terry Gropp, and wife Caecilia, Scott City; one daughter, Mary McCrary, and husband, Galen, Tecumseh; three grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

The funeral service was held March 11 at the First Christian Church, Scott City, with Rev. Rodney Hopper presiding.

Graveside service were held at the Kendall Cemetery, Kendall.

Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the First Christian Church in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
