Virgil Herald Wells

Virgil Herald Wells, 76, died Aug. 30, 2019, at his home in Ordway, Colo.

H e was born March 17, 1943, in Scott City, the son of Malvin O. and Edith M. (Wren) Wells.

He married Anetta Joy Horn on April 18, 1992, in Aurora, Colo.

He served in Vietnam and was a retired sergeant from the United States Army.

In his younger years he was a bronc and bull rider. He was a horse rancher and liked to ride them often. His real passion was training horses. He loved his family and spending time with them and his granddaughter.

He was very proud of his family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Joy, Ordway, Colo.; one daughter, Salena LaChapelle and husband, Craig, Oceanside, Calif.; one step-son, Francis Christie, Sugar City, Colo.; one sister, Ruth Riedl, Scott City; one brother, Darrell Wells and wife, Deena, Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; and his pride and joy, one granddaughter, Katelyn LaChapelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dwane; one niece, Pearl Sue Riedl, and one brother-in-law, Dean Riedl.

A memorial service will be held Mon., Sept. 16, 10:00 a.m., at the Ordway V.F.W. Post No. 336 with Pastor Jeb Brown of the River of Life Fellowship officiating.

Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, Box 408, LaJunta, Colo. 81050, either directly or through the funeral home.
