William ‘Bill’ Young
William “Bill” Young, 56, died March 25, 2018, at his home in Dodge City. He was born May 22, 1961, in Fort Sumter, S.C., the son of Gerald and Emily (Cox) Young. He was a graduate of Scott Community High School and farmed near Scott City until moving to Dodge City in 2001. He worked at Dodge City Raceway Park. He was a member of the Dodge City Church of Christ. On June 2, 2001, he married Bettye Alexander Sloan in Dodge City. She survives. Other survivors include: one son, Matthew Young and fiancé, Amber West, Garden City; one daughter, Kim Young, Dighton; two step-sons, Joshua Sloan and wife, Barbie, Edmond, Okla., and Matthew Sloan and wife, Jill, Fort Worth, Tex.; one sister, Michelle Lightner and husband, Lonnie, Healy; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Robert Young; and one sister, Lynette Bergen.Friends may sign the register book Fri., March 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Memorial service will be held Sat., March 31, 1:30 p.m., at the Dodge City Church of Christ with Gary Bennett officiating.
