Alone at the top

SC girls over Tigers in OT for 1st in GWAC

The Scott Community High School girls found themselves in a position they’d never before experienced following Friday’s game at Ulysses.

The Lady Beavers are all alone on top of the Great West Activities Conference standings following a 38-37 overtime win over Ulysses after both teams entered the game unbeaten in league play.

It wasn’t an easy win, but they rarely are for Scott City.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game. This group of (Ulysses) girls are a veteran team that’s played at the varsity level for the last couple of years,” says head coach Sarah McCormick. “They have strong outside shooters and a big presence on the inside.”
