Beaver pitching rotation takes a hit

A SCHS baseball team that is light on numbers and experience figured to offset that with two pitchers at the top of the rotation who are as good as anyone in the Great West Activities Conference.

Those plans were delivered an unexpected blow when All-League pitcher Kevin Herman was injured in a skiing accident earlier this week and will likely miss his first two starting assignments.

“The way our schedule was set up for the first couple of weeks we were going to be able to start Kevin and Harrison (King) and that would give us time to figure out who our other starters might be,” says head coach David Dirks.

Now he has one starting pitcher and a lot of questions.

Early indications are that Herman will require stitches to close a tear along the right side of his rib cage. It’s unknown how long that will take to heal.
