Beavers paint a win over Holcomb

If you’re looking for the reason behind the Scott Community High School boy’s post-Christmas success, head coach Brian Gentry can quickly point you in the right direction.

It begins in the paint.

Senior center Parker Vulgamore has become a force inside, including a career high 20 points in a 57-43 romp over Holcomb on Tuesday.

The Beavers (8-4) have won six of their last seven games - the only loss coming against Class 5A state-ranked Maize.

As the post play has continued to improve, so has Scott City’s win-loss record.

“Two years ago we moved him into the post and we’re seeing the result of his hard work over that time,” says head coach Brian Gentry. “He does a great job of using angles and getting a defender to overplay him so he can dropstep and slide under them or use an up-and-under move. He’s doing a fantastic job.
