Beavers stumble in fourth quarter as Redskins rally

After leading throughout most of the first three quarters against Liberal, the Scott Community High School boys stumbled down the stretch, allowing the Redskins to erase an eight point lead and escape with a 40-37 win in the finale of the Clarion Inn Classic on Saturday.

Even though the Beavers (2-2) had seemingly seized control of the game in the second quarter and held a double-digit lead at one time, it was never a comfortable margin.

Even while limiting Liberal to a lone three-point basket over a 13 minute stretch, the Beavers were only able to open up a 27-15 lead on Marshall Faurot’s jumper in the lane with 3:02 left in the third period.
