Beavers use strong start to send 9 grapplers to sub-state

The strategy was pretty simple for the Class 3A regional wrestling tournament.

“We told the boys the first round matches were going to be huge in determining if they’d still be wrestling for another week,” said Scott Community High School head coach Aaron Dirks.

“I said that when people are watching us wrestle from the stands there should be no question about who wants it more. We have to be the one wrestling more physical. We have to be the ones getting an opponent off their game,” said Dirks. “I felt we did that in the first round and it carried through the rest of the day.”
