College athletes see opportunity for change
Athletes in the major universities have been making their voices heard in recent years in an attempt to get a piece of the revenue pie generated through sports - primarily football and basketball.
Oddly enough, with fall sports at risk of not happening, these athletes may have a stronger hand than ever in creating some significant changes.
University presidents, and for that matter athletes involved in the so-called “minor” sports have reason to be concerned. University administration need the revenue stream from football and the NCAA basketball tournament to stay afloat. And when it comes to cutting cost, well, we know which sports will be the first victims of any cost-cutting moves.
