SC girls take control in 4th quarter to pull away from Eagles

Emily Weathers’ ability to wreak havoc in the low post is no secret.

What’s becoming less of a secret has been her ability to extend her scoring range on the perimeter.

The Scott Community High School senior scored 19 points, but none may have been bigger than a threepoint basket with just under four minutes remaining in a 61-56 win over Hugoton on the home floor last Friday.

The Lady Beavers, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A, extended their unbeaten streak to five games entering the holiday break.

“I’m proud of this win. I knew Hugoton was going to be good and that this could go down to the wire,” said head coach Sarah McCormick.
