King impresses with quicker decisions, feet in scrimmage
The first scrimmage of the season is never very good.
“What we saw today happens every year,” Scott Community High School head coach Jim Turner reminded his players following Saturday morning’s intrasquad scrimmage. “It will get better.”
But given this was only the team’s second day in full pads, it also could have been a lot worse.
In fact, in many respects the Beaver football team is ahead of where one might expect this early in the season. Because of the pandemic and the way it disrupted the spring sports season, the Kansas State High School Activities Association permitted schools to have their summer camps during the week before fall practices began.
Normally, the cutoff date for summer camps is the third week in July.
