Ease into fitness, strength program for long-term health

Prior to returning to Scott City, Clay Mulligan was seriously considering the possibility of opening a fitness center.

It seemed like a perfect business opportunity for the Scott City native who was completing his physical therapy degree at University of Kansas Medical Center.

“We were crunching the numbers, but I was nervous about whether or not I could make it work,” says Mulligan.

He has since joined the Scott County Hospital as a full-time physical therapist, and is now lending his expertise at the newly opened Scott Recreation Commission Fitness Center.

“It’s given me the best of both worlds,” says Mulligan, who is impressed with the facility located at the north end of the Sports Complex and the quality of its workout equipment.
