Lady spikers will have light bench to start season

The Scott Community High School girls will have only a couple of reserves on the varsity bench when they open the season on Friday and Saturday.

That’s by design.

“Usually, I have 10 girls on my bench, but I’m starting the season with seven, possibly eight. This is a group that’s working pretty well together,” says head coach Shelby Kite. “This is who we’ve narrowed it down to for the first week of matches.”

Eventually, that will change. But Kite feels there are girls who can benefit more with added playing time at the junior varsity level.
