Missed opportunities cost Lady Beavers in season-ending loss

It wasn’t the bats that decided the outcome of Tuesday’s Class 3A regional tournament quarterfinal game between Scott City and Lakin/Deerfield. It was their gloves.

Six errors that led to four unearned runs was the difference in a 4-3 season-ending loss for the Lady Beavers (10-11). In fact, the Broncos’ winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning came without a hit in the frame.

And despite their problems in the field, it was Scott City’s inability to capitalize on numerous scoring opportunities that ultimately cost them the game.
