Presence in the paint will be key to success for SC boys

A strong presence in the paint is an element that the Scott Community High School boys have been lacking the last few seasons.

This may be the year that changes and, if so, it could signal a turnaround for the Beavers who have been absent from the state tournament for the past two seasons.

If senior Joe Evans (6-foot-5) can develop a more physical style of play to go along with his length he could establish himself as one of the area’s top big men.

It would also provide a nice complement to senior Parker Vulgamore (6-foot-3, 205) who can hold his own in the low post.

“Parker is a physical presence and he screens really well,” notes Gentry.

Add senior Jaren Berning (6-foot-2) and junior Brandon Winderlin (6-foot-2) into the mix and the paint will be a busy place for the Beavers this season.
