SCHS netters collect 2 golds at P-burg Invite

A long road trip and a disastrous opening round against the home team didn’t prove to be a good combination for the Scott City tennis team when they traveled to Phillipsburg on Tuesday.

“We took the 2-1/2 hour Suburban ride and it took another two hours to get going. Everyone’s first match was their worst of the day,” said head coach Corbin Janssen, referring to their first round play against Phillipsburg in which the Lady Beavers were 1-3.

“They came out playing tight. After winning their first two tournaments I think the pressure may have gotten to us a little bit, especially going against a good team like Phillipsburg.”
