State trip wasn’t in the cards for spikers

No. 1 seeded SC is upset in sub-state semis by Hoisington

This was going to be the year that Scott City’s long absence from the state volleyball tournament would come to an end.

The Lady Beavers entered the Class 3A substate as the No. 1 seed with an opportunity to qualify for state for the first time since 2001.

Those hopes ended with a 15-25, 22-25 loss to No. 5 seed Hoisington (16-24) in the semi-finals.

“It wasn’t our day. We didn’t see great play from anybody,” says second year head coach Shelby Kite.
