Even though Belle Trout had the lead throughout most of the Class 4A regional cross-country meet, the Scott Community High School sophomore knew that she couldn’t relax.
Despite Barry Sanders averaging 30 yards a carry in his first three games as a receiver at our Wichita high school, head coach Dale Burkholder said the athletic director warned him not to start Barry at runningback.
Statistically, it should have been a blowout win for the Scott City junior varsity.
