3 Scott Community High School artists earn ‘top 25’ at Great West Activities Conference art show

Poe serves as inspiration for McLachlan’s artistic subjects

Shelby McLachlan enjoys the tales written by author Edgar Allen Poe.

So, it should be no surprise that ravens are an inspiration for the Scott Community High School artist. The artist found the idea for her award winning work while searching the internet.

“When I saw this painting I was struck by how the artist had created light,” says the SCHS senior. “When you look into the night sky you can see that ring of light around the moon. I feel the artist captured that while still bringing in the darkness and the depth of night.”
